The Galley offers both casual and fine catering options for your special events – relax and enjoy the beach side ambience, while we cater your event. Our catering facilities are fully licensed, and our versatile staff and facility can handle everything from the formal wedding receptions and cocktail parties, to corporate events, business luncheons, birthday parties, anniversaries, and other festivities.
Don’t forget about the spectacular view that greets your guests; a great way to showcase the city for your out-of-town visitors.
Rooms & Facilities
The Jericho Sailing Centre is home to a wide range of facilities suited to every kind of occasion and event. All of our main rooms open onto the deck, enabling any group using the Centre to drink in the breathtaking sights – the best view of Vancouver in Vancouver! Choose your room and apply online using the Jericho Sailing Centre Room Booking Form. Note that you are required to be a member of the Jericho Sailing Centre Association (JSCA) in order to book function rooms – please see the JSCA website for more details.
Catering Terms & Conditions
50% of all estimated amount of your function is due upon your acceptance of our quote. 40% is due 72 hours prior to the date of your function. Balance is due upon receipt of invoice. Credit may be extended to qualified repeat customers, with prior credit approval.
No minimum charge is required for events finishing prior to 4 p.m. on any weekday, provided our required minimum number of guests is met. Our minimum charge for evening and weekend events is $1,000.00 exclusive of all taxes, gratuities and room charges.
Friday, Saturday & Sunday events held June 12 through to September 13, 4 p.m. onward, and events held any night coinciding with special events such as ‘Celebration Of Light’, will be subject to a minimum charge of $6500.00, exclusive of all room charges, taxes and gratuities.
Monday-Thursday events held June 12 though to September 13, 4 p.m. onward, will be subject to a minimum charge of $2500, exclusive of all room charges, taxes, and gratuities.
We accept cash, company cheque only, debit card, Visa, Master Card, and American Express. Debit card and credit card payment must be made in person.
Accounts not settled promptly are subject to interest charges and will be referred to an outside company for collection.
Final guaranteed numbers for your function are required at least 72 hours prior to the event and, you will be charged for this number of guests, or the number attending, which ever is greater. If more than the confirmed number of guests attends, we cannot guarantee their accommodation. No function will take place without a confirmed number of guests.
Children under 12 will be charged at 50% of the full price. We will extend this discount up to a maximum of 10% of the total number of guests attending. There is no charge for children under 2. A maximum discount of 10% will apply for the total meals for children.
Minimum Number of Guests & Staffing
Menu costs are based on a minimum number of 50 guests. Smaller functions may be subject to labour charges. Charges for extra services: wait staff @ $18.00/hr, bartenders @ $22.00/hr, and additional chefs @ $25.00/hr. A minimum of 4 hours will be charged for each staff member. Staff are prepared to work 8 hour shifts. Functions extending beyond 8 hours, will be subject to overtime charges (rates available on request)
The Galley Patio & Grill operates under a ‘Food Primary’ liquor license, which obligates us to serve food with alcohol. Our license allows us to serve beer, wine and cider only, and our license allows service until 12:00 am. The bar must close promptly at this time. Our license does not allow guests to supply their own alcohol.
Items Left Overnight
We are not responsible for any items stored or left behind after your function. We strongly suggest removal of all valuables immediately following your function.
A coat rack can be provided for your guests. If you wish a secure coat check, the charge is $100.00 per function.
We supply complimentary plastic tablecloths and paper napkins for our more basic, casual bookings. High quality, linen tablecloths are also available for more formal occasions, or to add a touch of class to any event: a $2.00 charge per guest will apply. If you wish linen napkins, a $1.00 charge per guest will apply.
Basic equipment and smallware required for your function, with the exception of linen, is included in your function quote. Any additional requirements, such as AV equipment, may be subject to additional charges.
Cakes and Desserts
Should you wish to bring a cake or other dessert from another source, a $1.95pp cake cutting or service fee will apply. We must approve the supplier in advance.
Special Menu Requests
We are happy to oblige your guests who may have special dietary requirements. A minimum of two weeks notice is required, with additional charges applicable. Should you require a wine that is not a stock item, we would be happy to order it for you. Our standard additional charge will apply. You will be responsible for the costs of the entire specialty item, purchased for your function.
We are responsible for you and your guests’ well being, while using the facilities of The Galley Patio and Grill at the Jericho Sailing Centre. Guests who become intoxicated will be refused service, at the discretion of the server, supervisor, or operator, and their safe transport home will be the responsibility of you, the host. We also ask that you, as the host, make plans prior to your event for the safe ride home for any of your guests that will be drinking (taxi vouchers, for example). We are committed to serving alcohol responsibly and within the guidelines set out by our license; should this become an issue, we reserve the right to immediately cease bar service and terminate the function. You will forfeit any deposit.
A 15% gratuity is added to all functions.
All functions will be subject to provincial and federal taxes, where applicable.
Parking at Jericho Beach is patrolled nightly and prohibited after 1 a.m. unless prior arrangements have been made with Buster’s Towing. Please contact Jericho Sailing Centre’s main office for more information. We accept no responsibility for towed vehicles. Please inform your guests, or suggest taxis.
